Empowering children and youth in Malaiyagam
Gnanam Foundation USA is excited to work on education-based initiatives to empower and educate youth in Nayapana Estate.
Ramanathan Gnanadesikan, the founder of Gnanam Foundation made a personal visit to Nayapana Estate in September 2023 and met with youth community members. The members of the youth community from Nayapana Estate expressed their desire to have an IT center, where the youth can learn basic computer skills.
IT Center and Technology Hub:
Our goal is to empower and educate the youth living in Nayapana estate in Sri Lanka. After obtaining the necessary approval from Estate management, Gnanam Foundation USA set up an IT center at the library facility in Nayapana Estate on October 30, 2023. Official Instructor-led classes started on Monday, December 4, 2023, to provide basic computer lessons along with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
English classes for Children and Youth:
The members of the youth community from Nayapana Estate expressed their desire to learn English. After obtaining the necessary approval from Estate management, Gnanam Foundation USA also started English classes at the library facility in Nayapana Estate. Official Instructor-led classes started on Friday, February 16, 2024.
A Call to Action to Change Malaiyagam:
As an independent private foundation, Gnanam Foundation USA, invites like-minded people to explore and strengthen our efforts. Every contribution made on your own, no matter the size, will directly contribute to rewrite the 200-year history of the Malaiyagam Tamil community. Our staff and volunteers are from the Malaiyagam Tamil community, and they are tirelessly working to change Malaiyagam.
